New Chapter of Service for Sister Mary!

We’re pleased to share that Sister Mary McIntyre, CSJ, who faithfully served the Canadian Martyrs community for nearly 20 years, has been elected as one of the Consultants on the new Leadership Team of the Sisters of St. Joseph of Canada.

Throughout her years with us, Sister Mary’s ministry carried our community through seasons of change — different pastors, parish leadership, and even bishops — always with steady faith and dedication.

Earlier this year, Sister Mary retired from her leadership role in our parish, discerning that she was being called to serve in a broader capacity with her Sisters. We’re deeply grateful for her years of prayerful guidance and loving service among us. May the Holy Spirit continue to guide her and the entire leadership team in their mission and ministry.

Following is a message from Sr. Mary:

Thank you for your prayers for the week long meeting I recently attended for my Congregation, the Sisters of St. Joseph in Canada. We were gathered for what the Church refers to as a ‘Chapter’, a gathering that every community of religious men and women are required to hold every number of years to set their direction and elect new leadership.
We had lively and deep conversations about our life together and our concern for the world focusing on how we desire to use our lives and resources for the good of the dear neighbour, which is part of our spirituality.
One outcome of the Chapter is that I was elected to the leadership team along with 4 other Sisters, and we will be responsible for the spiritual and temporal matters of the Congregation for the next 4 years. I will continue to live in Dundas but will be attending lots of meetings and gatherings in other areas where our Sisters live and minister. I’m pleased though to be able to remain as a member of our Canadian Martyrs faith community and maybe even do a little volunteer work! I’m sure Fr. Gregory could find me a few jobs!
