A Not-So-Fun Update: Downspouts Damaged
Sometimes parish life includes unexpected repairs, and this week was one of those times. A few days ago, we discovered that the bottom halves of our downspouts had been stolen. Unfortunately, they didn’t make it far—someone found them a few houses down, bent and broken beyond repair.
We’ve had to arrange for replacement parts and labour, which ended up costing the parish about $500. It’s not the kind of thing anyone wants to spend money on, but it’s necessary to keep the building safe and in good shape.
We’re sharing this not to dwell on the negative, but just to give you a glimpse into some of the practical (and sometimes frustrating) realities of caring for parish property. Stuff like this happens from time to time, and when it does, we deal with it as best we can—with grace, humour, and a trip to the hardware store.
Thanks for continuing to support Canadian Martyrs. Your generosity is what helps us roll with the punches and keep things running.
