Father Recommends: A Brief Meditation

Life moves fast, and it’s easy to miss the quiet ways God is at work in our days. This meditation—can help us pause and notice where God has been moving in our lives. Whether your week was peaceful or packed, joyful or challenging, taking ten minutes to pray through these steps can bring clarity, gratitude, and a deeper sense of God’s presence.

Make the sign of the cross.
Take a deep breath.
Close your eyes if you feel comfortable.
And just be still for a moment.

Step 1: Thanksgiving
Think back over the past week.
Where did you feel grateful?
Was there a moment, even small, that brought you joy or peace?
Give thanks to God for that.

Step 2 Light

Ask the Holy Spirit to help you see clearly.
Say quietly in your heart:
“Lord, help me see this week through your eyes.”

Step 3: Review
Now gently walk back through your week, like watching a short film.
Where were you most alive, most loving?
Where did you feel connected to others—or to God?

Now... where did you feel drained, anxious, or closed off?
Where did you react out of fear instead of love?

Step 4: Response
Talk to God about what you noticed.
Is there something you want to thank Him for again?
Something to ask forgiveness for?
Something you want to change moving forward?

Step 5: Looking Ahead
Think about the week to come.
What do you need from God?
Courage? Patience? Clarity?
Ask Him for that grace now.

Say the Our Father prayer at the end.
