An Easter Message from Astronaut Victor Glover

Recently, astronaut Victor Glover of the Artemis II mission sent a simple but powerful Easter reflection as he looked back at Earth from space. Seen from that distance, our world is not divided, but whole, beautiful, and shared by all of us.

Glover’s perspective resonates deeply with the meaning of Easter. The Resurrection of Christ is about the renewal of all creation, the victory of life over death, hope over fear, and the gathering together of all of us into something greater than ourselves.

Glover describes Earth as an “oasis” of life in the vastness of space, created for us. It is a striking image, and expresses our belief that creation is a gift that we are called to care for, as we care for each other.

In a similar call for unity, Pope Leo XIV has emphasized the need to build bridges through dialogue and encounter and to work together as one people for peace and the common good, a responsibility entrusted to all. In the broader Easter and jubilee context, Pope Francis regularly emphasized that protecting our common home requires bringing the whole human family together in solidarity.
