Pilgrimage to Midland: Gallery and Reflection
Last Saturday, a group of parish volunteers and chaplaincy leaders travelled together to Midland on a pilgrimage to the Canadian Martyrs Shrine and Sainte-Marie among the Hurons.
As the patrons of our parish, the Canadian Martyrs hold a special place in our community, and the day gave us an opportunity to learn more about their lives and mission while spending time in prayer and fellowship.
Our pilgrimage included Mass at the Shrine, time to explore the grounds, and a walk to Sainte-Marie among the Hurons, where we were treated to an enthusiastic and enlightening guided tour by Mateo, a former member of our chaplaincy. His knowledge and passion brought the history of the site to life and helped us appreciate the challenges and sacrifices faced by the missionaries and Indigenous communities who lived there.
Prayer was also an important part of the journey. Fr. Gregory and Sr. Mary Pio led us in prayers on the bus as we travelled to and from Midland, giving the pilgrimage a strong sense of spiritual purpose.
There was plenty of time for conversation, laughter, and getting to know one another along the way. It was a wonderful opportunity to step away from our usual routines, deepen our appreciation for our parish patrons, and enjoy a day together as a community.
A sincere thank you to all those who joined us. We are grateful for the many ways you serve and contribute to the life of Canadian Martyrs Parish and Saint Kateri Chaplaincy.
