National Family and Life Week: “I Am With You Always”
National Family and Life Week is celebrated from 10-17 May 2026. This year’s theme, “I am with you always” (Matthew 28:20), reminds us that Christ remains present with families in every season of life.
The Church teaches that the family is the “domestic church” — the first place where faith is lived, taught, and shared. Through prayer, love, forgiveness, and daily life together, Christian families become communities of faith, hope, and charity. This teaching was repeated recently by Pope Leo on the Solemnity of Saint Joseph.
National Family and Life Week is an opportunity to give thanks for the gift of family life, to renew our homes in prayer, and to grow together in faith. Throughout the week, families are encouraged to take simple steps together: praying as a household, reading Scripture, sharing meals, and participating in parish life.
The Canadian Conference of Catholic Bishops’ Office for Family and Life has prepared resources and activities for families of all ages to help mark the week in meaningful and practical ways.
As a parish community, let us pray especially for all families — that Christ may strengthen homes with His peace, guide grandparents, parents, and children in faith, and help every household grow as a place of prayer, love, and joyful witness.
